About our pool

Helston Sports Centre has a traditional 25 metre, 6 lane swimming pool ranging in depth from 0.9m – 1.9m which is open 7 days a week for public swimming, swimming lessons, Aquafit and Swimfit classes and private hires.

Our water quality is excellent and we use a low chlorine ultra violet treatment system which is much more customer friendly, especially on the eyes.

Fun Sessions – We run fun sessions at dedicated times during the weekend which are suitable for all ages and abilities. Bring the family along for some great activity in the pool. There are plenty of floats and toys available.

Swimming Pool Admission Policy

Please read the Swimming Pool Admissions Policy if bringing children under eight years old swimming.

Please note: Occasionally we may need to change the swimming pool timetable at short notice owing to a variety of reasons. If travelling for any distance it is advisable to contact the Centre to confirm session times prior to your visit. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Swimming Lessons

Swim School

Our Swim School incorporates the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming. The ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming offers clearly defined progression levels that are easily understood. With 7 different levels we can accommodate many different abilities. The emphasis is on teaching correct technique over short distances providing the foundations for sound swimming and pupil progress. It is also our policy to ensure lessons are enjoyable, interesting and above all offer the highest standards of water confidence, skills and technique.

Classes consist of blocks of 10 weekly sessions to form a 50 week swim school.

Classes consist of weekly half hour sessions. This enables us to place more emphasis on continual assessment. Swimmers will be placed in named groups ranging from Stage 1 to Stage 7. Each child will have the opportunity to achieve awards as they progress through the Swim School.

Lessons continue during school holidays, but we break for two weeks at Christmas.

All of our instructors are qualified by the Swimming Teachers Association and attend regular CPD training in order to maintain quality teaching and ongoing development. All Teachers are also CRB checked prior to employment.

For pricing information please see our fees and charges or look at our Learn and Swim membership on our membership packages page. For any further information please contact reception.
